You got hacked?

Reset your password

Go to discord.com/reset immediately, and don't reuse any old passwords.
  • Use at least 12 characters with mixed letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Make sure it's a password you've never used before
  • This also logs out the hacker from all devices

Check for malware

Scammers often trick you into downloading a fake game, tool, or "verification" app. Check your computer for anything suspicious.
  • Check your browser extensions for anything unfamiliar and remove it
  • Run a full antivirus/malware scan (Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, etc.)
  • If you find anything, disconnect the internet, reinstall Windows, and change your passwords on a separate device

Enable two-factor authentication

Go to User Settings → Password & Authentication and set up 2FA.
  • Use an authenticator app (Google Auth, Authy, etc.) - not SMS
  • Write down your backup codes and store them somewhere safe
  • 2FA makes it much harder for your account to get stolen again

Review what was sent from your account

Scammers often use your account to spam scam links to all your friends and servers.
  • Check your recent outgoing messages for anything you didn't write
  • Warn anyone who got a suspicious link from you not to click it
  • If you shared anything sensitive, let them know right away

Revoke authorized apps

Go to User Settings → Authorized Apps and remove anything suspicious.
  • Scammers can use OAuth apps to force you to join servers and more
  • Remove any app you don't recognize or didn't authorize yourself
  • Only keep apps you absolutely trust

Stay safe going forward

Now that your account is secure, here's how to avoid getting hacked again.
  • Don't scan random QR codes claiming to be for verification
  • Don't download suspicious files, games, or mods - even Minecraft mods can hide malware
  • If a site asks you to sign in again when you're already logged in, that's a phishing page - close it
  • Always check the domain before typing your password
